Members of the Southampton High School Patriot Club, under the direction of Thea Fry, held an annual Veterans Appreciation Dinner for local veterans on Oct. 30.
The event paid tribute to local veterans for their sacrifices and service to the country. The veterans were treated to a delicious dinner and performances by the high school marching band, Shinnecock drummers and Michelle Thomas, a Navajo singer, NAMA-winning recording artist and CEO/founder of Navajo Goddess. The veterans were further honored by members of the elementary school student council and community service club, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.
Also in attendance were New York State Police officers, Southampton Town police explorers and PBA members, Southampton Village police officers, Southampton Elks Lodge members, elected officials from Congressman Nick LaLota's office, Legislative Aide Peter Ganley, Southampton Town Councilwoman Cyndi McNamara, the Southampton Village Mayor’s Office, Deputy Mayor Leonard Zinnanti, members of the NYC Fire Department, members of the Eastern Suffolk Ducks Unlimited Committee, and the Polish Legion of American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary.
“We were so grateful for the tremendous amount of food and beverage donations that came from many of our local restaurants and businesses,” said Fry. “Southampton High School and the Mariners Patriot Club salute and honor all of our veterans who have courageously served our country. It was an honor to have you present. Happy Veterans Day!”
