Southampton High School Legacy Diploma
Members of each year’s graduating class will have the opportunity to earn a special certificate in addition to the New York State high school diploma.
This certificate, called the Legacy Diploma, will be awarded to graduates who, in addition to meeting the New York State requirements for graduation, have completed 65 hours of community service (see attached requirements). Students earning a Legacy Diploma will receive a certificate, an honor cord and will be recognized on the 2025 Commencement program.
REQUIREMENTS FOR LEGACY DIPLOMA
1. You must complete a minimum of 65 hours of community service (A minimum of 35 hours is required during senior year. Hours earned freshmen through senior year can be used.). A separate form must be submitted for each activity. Please staple the forms together before you submit them. A copy of the form is attached. Feel free to make photocopies as needed.
2. Any community service work done through the National Honor Society, Practical Government class or other school organizations may be used toward fulfilling your 65-hour requirement.
3. Community service projects must be completed by Friday, June 13th, 2025 so that they may be reviewed and the Legacy Diploma certificates can be prepared. You will be asked to provide written verification that the projects were completed at that time. Written verification can be in the form of a letter from the organization, signed by the person in charge or the enclosed Community Service Form, also needing a signature from the person in charge.
