To mark Lunar New Year, Southampton High School students in Dianna D'Amico's family and consumer science classes hosted a Year of the Snake celebration. As part of the event, the students prepared over a dozen flavors of bubble tea, a Taiwanese recipe made by blending tea with milk, ice, fruit and fruit juices, then adding tasty tapioca pearls known as boba in honey and shaking vigorously. Students and staff were delighted as they described the festive drinks as fruity, refreshing and surprisingly addictive. Some of the favorite flavors students made were mango, watermelon, taro, matcha green tea and vanilla. Each attendee received fortune cookies, fruit and traditional Lunar New Year desserts baked by D’Amico’s culinary students.
