As part of Southampton High School’s marine research and sciences programs, students participate in a plethora of hands-on learning opportunities. Recently, research student Zachary Muller put his marine science skills to the test by volunteering to dive into the school’s shark tank to retrieve shark eggs from underneath the mangroves, where it is difficult to monitor their development. He collected 18 white spotted bamboo shark eggs, nine of which have developing sharks in them. Students will now monitor the eggs' development and trade them with other organizations to diversify the wet lab’s marine life collection for future research projects and educational purposes.
