Student Schedules
Dr. Tuthill, Director of Counseling, and the Counseling Department Staff cannot wait to welcome students back on Tuesday, September 2nd. Counselors will be reviewing student schedules mid to late August and will contact students ONLY if they have a scheduling conflict, prior to the first day of school. It is important to note that schedules in the PowerSchool Student Portal will be available for viewing on Monday, August 25th. Posted schedules are still subject to change and will not be considered final until Friday, August 29th. Once schedules are final, please reference the link below, (page 17 in the curriculum guide) for scheduling or course change procedures.

Personal Electronic Devices Usage |
|
Governor Kathy Hochul has initiated a "distraction-free schools" policy in New York State, which includes a "bell-to-bell" ban on smartphone use in K-12 schools.
● Students are prohibited from using internet-enabled personal devices, like smartphones, smartwatches, ear buds and personal laptops, from the moment they enter school until they leave.
● Students who wish to call home or get in touch with their parents/guardians are permitted to use the phone in the Main Office or Assistant Principal’s Office dedicated for this purpose.
● School issued chromebooks and tablets are the only wifi enabled devices students are allowed to use during school hours.
● Students are required to lock their device(s) in their school issued Yondr pouches
● Students will lock their smart devices in their Yondr pouches in front of a staff member upon entering the school building each day.
● If a student forgets their Yondr pouch, they will be able to borrow a loaner pouch for the day from the AP Office.
● To access Yondr pouches at the end of the day, unlocking magnets will be placed at the building exits when the bell rings at 2:35. Students will be able to manually unlock their pouches and use their devices at that time.
● If a student claims to not have a smart device on them when entering the school building, they are assuming responsibility and will be held accountable for their actions if caught with a device.
● If a device is seen during school hours, it will be confiscated and turned over to the AP Office.
Please visit our SHS Cell Phone Procedures Page on the Website for more Information. We are hosting two Q and A events for parents as well. The SHS PTO will be bringing refreshments and we will provide child care as well for parents who need to bring their children.

Arrival, Dismissal & Bus Information |
|
Student Arrival, Dismissal and Bus Information
All students are encouraged to take our school buses to and from school each day. The Southampton Transportation Department and Montauk Bus will be communicating bus route numbers and pick up/drop off locations prior to the start of school via email. You should have already received an email detailing your child's bus route and pick up times. Please note that athletic bus stops are communal. Questions regarding bus transportation can be directed to the Southampton Transportation Department at (631) 591-4541 or Montauk Bus at (631) 874-5300.
For those who choose parental/guardian transportation, security staff members will be out front of the high school to assist in that process. Morning drop off and afternoon pick up will take place on Narrow Lane directly in front of the high school. We ask that all parents and guardians follow the directions of security staff to ensure everyone’s safety.
SHS will once again have bus dismissal runs after period 9 AND after period 10 extra help. That means that students who do not need to stay for period 10 extra help will have a bus available after the completion of the 9 period day. Secondly, we will be offering an athletic bus for students who stay at SHS for after school athletics. The SHS athletic bus will depart approximately 5:30 PM. All students enrolled in a fall sport should have received an email invitation to sign up for the late bus runs. Again, all bus stops will be communal.
Student Parking
Grade 12 students who have a valid senior driver’s license may obtain a permit to park in the rear of Southampton High School. Before obtaining a parking permit, all PowerSchool E-Collect documents must be completed and any fines must be paid. Students are required to bring original valid senior Driver’s License, Registration, and Insurance Card of the vehicle you will be driving to school to the Assistant Principal’s Office. The office will make copies and return the originals immediately. Students may come to the AP office to obtain their permit beginning on the first day of school. Kind reminder: permits and junior licenses are not permitted. SHS Grade 12 Seniors with parking permits will be invited to paint their spots. Advisors will share the logistics of date and time early in the first quarter.
Senior Privileges
Grade 12 students, who are in good academic and behavioral standing and have signed all forms in PowerSchool Parent portal, will be afforded Senior Privileges for the 25-26 school year. Senior Privileges include the ability to enter school period 2, if scheduled for a period 1 study hall, and leave after period 8, if scheduled for a period 9 study hall. Seniors, with privileges, may also leave the building during scheduled lunch periods. Please note that Senior Privileges do NOT include the ability to leave campus during a study hall scheduled periods 2-8 (unless approved by administration in specific cases). Senior privileges begin and continue with the approval from the Assistant Principal’s Office. Conduct and academics are reviewed regularly and must be satisfactory in order to maintain Privileges.
