Sharing Holiday Cheer Through Baking

Posted Date: 12/19/25 (02:49 PM)

Students in Mrs. D’Amico’s family and consumer sciences classes at Southampton High School recently filled their school with the warmth and aroma of the holiday season by baking hundreds of gingerbread cookies to decorate and share with friends and family. They also made tres leches cake, a favorite dessert for holidays and birthday celebrations across Latin America, particularly in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. As part of the lesson, students prepared several flavorful varieties, including pinapple, coconut, papaya, peach, and cookies and cream. Both projects allowed students to explore baking techniques while learning about cultural traditions connected to food.
