Southampton Students Tour Italy
Posted Date: 04/15/26 (07:06 AM)

During spring break, 28 Southampton High School students enjoyed a culturally educational trip to Italy. The group visited UNESCO World Heritage sites of Venice, Florence, Rome and Pompeii, as well as the sparkling coastlines of Sorrento and the island of Capri. Beyond the historic sites and coastal beauty, students enjoyed watching Murano glass artists at work and chefs making pizza dough. Additionally, seven of the students had received Italian government grants through pre- and post-trip projects and had the opportunity to meet pen pals from Arezzo. The group was chaperoned by Italian teacher Maria Abbadessa, music teacher Nancy Caine and science teacher John Walsh.
