Southampton High School junior Alexandra Beladidze recently earned second place at the High School Art Expo held at Suffolk County Community College for her original artwork created using linocut techniques. Beladidze’s award-winning piece featured a koi fish and incorporated yin and yang imagery, blending symbolism craftsmanship to create a visually compelling design. The competition marked her first time participating in an art contest. “I was shocked and very happy to earn second place,” Beladidze said of receiving the award. She plans to continue developing her artistic skills, particularly in watercolors, which she said she finds relaxing. Beyond the art studio, Beladidze is an active member of her school community. She participates in the Mariners Patriot Club, Environmental Club, National Honor Society, Italian Honor Society and Italian Club. The Southampton School District congratulates Beladidze on her impressive award.
