Exciting News: New High School Student Devices & Important Setup Steps

Posted Date: 08/30/26 (03:20 PM)

Dear High School Students and Families,

We hope you are having a wonderful summer! As we gear up for the start of the new school year, we are thrilled to announce that all High School students will be receiving brand-new school issued devices this year: the Mac Neo!

Device Rollout Plan

To ensure a smooth transition, device distribution will take place by grade level:

  • 9th Grade (Freshmen): Distribution will occur during Freshman Orientation.

  • 10th–12th Grades: Distribution will take place during the first week of school.

Note: Building administration will send out a formal, detailed schedule for device pickup in the coming days. In the meantime, students should continue using their existing Chromebooks until their official swap day.

Action Items Before the Start of School

To make sure your student is ready to receive their new device, please complete the following steps prior to the first day:

  1. Log into PowerSchool:

    • Review and sign the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) alongside all standard back-to-school forms located in the forms tab of Powerschool (parent and student signature are required)

  1. Update Existing Chromebooks/MacNeos (Important!):

    • For security purposes, district Wi-Fi passwords were updated over the summer.

    • Please turn on your current Chromebook/MacNeo and connect it to your home Wi-Fi network before coming to school. This ensures the device receives critical system updates and connects seamlessly to the high school network on day one.

  1. Device Insurance ($20 Annual Fee):

    • Annual device insurance is $20 per student.

Payment Methods:

  • Online: Pay via MySchoolBucks.

  • In Person (AP or Technology office): Cash or check (made payable to SUFSD).

Thank you for your cooperation and assistance in making this tech rollout a success. We look forward to seeing everyone back in school soon!

Best,
