Southampton Student Gets a Head Start on College Through College Horizons Program

Over the summer, Southampton High School senior Sean Smith had the opportunity to attend College Horizons, a pre-college summer program for Native American high schoolers. Through the program, Smith spent five days at Dartmouth University connecting with college admissions officers, college counselors, financial aid advisers, essay specialists and other educators to learn more about the college admissions process. To participate in the program, Smith was required to submit an application that included several essay questions. Smith said the experience helped to prepare him for his college application journey and allowed him to network and make new friends. Smith, who is a member of his school’s robotics team, Key Club and My Brother’s Keeper, plans to study engineering in college.
