The Southampton Board of Education has appointed high school senior Jan Gredysa and junior Anahi Rosas as its student ex officio board members for the 2026-2027 school year. As non-voting board members, Gredysa and Rosas will provide regular reports on the student body at each board meeting and contribute valuable perspective and feedback to board discussions. “I am looking forward to representing the student body,” said Gredysa, adding that he also plans to advocate for an Advanced Placement anatomy and physiology class to be added at the high school.

Likewise, Rosas said she intends to serve as a voice for her classmates and promote unity among the district’s three schools. “I’d like to bring us closer as a district,” she said. Both students earned their ex officio positions following an application and interview process with school administrators.

In addition to his volunteer service as an ex officio member, Gredysa is a member of his school’s Varsity, Fishing and Outing clubs and is a competitive swimmer. He swims as part of the joint Southampton and East Hampton varsity swim team that he helped launch, and in club swimming. He is also a record-holding angler with 28 world records from the International Game Fish Association. Rosas is a member of her school’s Latinas Voices United, Rotary Interact and Newspaper clubs. She also participates in the school’s Best Buddies and Peer Tutoring programs and plays the cello in the symphony orchestra. She has an interest in political science.
